Athletes of the Week-September 5

  • Cross Country
    Ashlie Baumann
    Ohio Northern
    Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson

    Baumann led the Polar Bears to a first place finish at the nine-team Bluffton 5k with a fifth place finish in a career-best 18:48, which ties her for 10th all-time at ONU.

    Stow/Munroe Falls

    McVey led the Polar Bears with a second place finish at the eight-team Bluffton 6k in 18:40, finishing first among NCAA Division III runners.

    Logan Stepp
    West Jefferson/West Jefferson

    Stepp completed 25-of-33 passes for a career-high 402 yards with two touchdowns to lead the Cardinals to a 36-15 victory at Ohio Wesleyan. Stepp also rushed 62 yards with two more touchdowns to finished the day with 464 yards of total offense.

    Weck led Muskies' defensive effort in a 19-0 win over Waynesburg with 10 tackles, four tackles for loss for 16 yards and one sack. He also forced one fumble and had one interception.

    Cincinnati, Ohio/Holy Cross (KY)

    Weathersby recorded tackles in six of the Quakers' eight kickoffs to help Wilmington snap a 19-game losing streak with a 49-20 win over Earlham.

    Hadley Sterett
    Outside Hitter/Junior

    Sterett recorded 69 kills, including a weekend-best 23 against Washington and Jefferson to lead the Cardinals to a 4-0 record at the Otterbein Fall Classic. She held a .342 hitting percentage while also compiling 29 digs and nine service aces and was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

    Austin Wells

    Wells led the Cardinals at the Transyvania Invitational, finishing eighth out of a field of 82 at the UK Golf Club. He tied for the low-round of 67 on the opening day, before following up with a 75, as the Cards finished sixth out of 14 teams.

    Farmington Hills, Mich/Ladywood

    Cranmer led the Polar Bears to a victory at the four-team ONU Fall Classic at Colonial Golfers Club. She fired an 82-84—166 to win the individual title by five strokes on the par-72 course.

    O'Donnell scored three goals and added an assist to finish the weekend with seven points to lead the Purple Raiders to a 2-0 record at the Hiram Classic. The Purple Raiders defeated Thiel, 8-0, and Franciscan,  4-1.

    McIntosh posted a pair of shutouts over the weekend, making six saves in his 180 minutes of play. JCU defeated Denison, 1-0, on Friday and Kenyon, 1-0, on Sunday.
