Athletes of the Week-January 2, 2018

Clayton Davidson
Ohio Northen

Davidson went 4-0, with victories over 2 nationally ranked opponents, to lead ONU to a 3-1 record at the Washington & Lee (Va.) Duals. He defeated #6 A.J. Aeberli of Coast Guard 4-0 and #10 ranked Matt Marcotte of North Central 8-3. Also had a 33 second pin against Sean Floto of King's.



Men's Basketball
Marcus Dempsey

Dempsey averaged 40 points over three games and set the school record for points in a game with his 57-point performance against Oberlin. The old mark was 54 points set during the 1913 season. He shot .565 from the field and was named the MVP of the Oberlin Tournament.  Dempsey connected on 19-of-30 from the field, including 7-of-12 from behind the arc and 12-of-16 free throws. His 30 attempts also tied the school record for field goals attempted in a game which was set during1970-71 season.   


Women's Basketball
Olivia Besancon
Smithville, Ohio/Smithville

Besancon led the Muskies to a 3-1 record over the holiday break by averaging 20.5 points-per-game. Besancon connected on 24-of-27 free throws, made 12 three-point shots, grabbed 15 rebounds and registered six assists and four steals. For her outstanding play, she was named to the Ohio Wesleyan Bishop Classic/Hoops for Hope All-Tournament team.
