March 24

Track (women)- Capital sophomore Jessica Starks (Akron/Akron East) pulled off a win in the 100 meter dash (12.45) and earned a second place finish in the 200 meter dash (25.45) and the 4x100-meter relay at the Rhodes Open last week.

Tiffany Kovacevich

Field (women)- Marietta junior Tiffany Kovacevich (Strongsville) placed 18th in the hammer throw (41.20m) and 30th in the shot put (11.11m) at the predominately division one Wake Forest Invitational last week. Both times were season-best.

March 31

Track (women)- Baldwin-Wallace junior  Rebekah Paul (Gibsonburg) pulled off a win in the 200 meter dash (26.14) and the 400-meter dash (57.68) at the OAC Split Meet hosted by Marietta last week.  She was also a member of the second place 4x400-meter relay team (4:08.34). The team placed first out of five teams.

Field (women)- Marietta junior Tiffany Kovacevich (Strongsville) placed first in the hammer throw (42.68), the shot put (11.58) and the discus (34.48) at the OAC Split Meet last week. The team placed third out of five teams.

April 7

Track (women)-Capital sophomore Jessica Starks (Akron/Akron East) claimed the tile in the 100 meter (12.30) and 200 meter (25.29) races and qualified in both events for the NCAA Championships at the Marv Frye Invitational.

Tiffany Kovacevich

Field (women)-Marietta junior Tiffany Kovacevich (Strongsville) participated in three events at the Don Frail Invitational. She set a new school record in the shot put, taking third place with a mark of 12.16m. Kovacevich also placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 41.73m (136-11) and took 10th in the discus with a mark of 28.92m (94-10).

April 14

Track-Capital sophomore Jessica Starks (Akron/Akron East) improved her NCAA qualifying time from a week ago in the 100-meter dash as she posted an All-Ohio meet record and matched her school-record time of 12.17 in the event.  Her 25.40 time in the 200-meter dash was fast enough to get the win by nearly ¾ of a second.  Starks also a member of the winning 4x100 meter relay team  with a time of 49.20.

Field-Muskingum senior Amanda Smith (Newark/Lakewood) led the Muskies at the All-Ohio Championships last week by capturing the high jump title with a season-best leap of 5-03.25.

April 21

Track (women)-Baldwin-Wallace junior Rebekah Paul (Gibsonburg) won the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.46, which provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet at the Sparky Adams Invitational last weekend. For her efforts she was named the Sparky Adams Most Valuable Performer.

Field (women)-Otterbein freshman Emily Bonnette (Marietta/Warren) led the Cardinals at the Kenyon Invitational  last week by capturing the triple jump title (11.03m) and placing second in the long jump (5.10m) .

2007

March 26

Track-Baldwin-Wallace sophomore Ashley Scullion (Grand Rapids, MI/East Kentwood) won the 800 meter dash in 2:18.28 and the 1500 meter run in 4:43.26 to lead B-W to a second place finish among 12 teams at the Muskingum Invitational last week. Both times were career-bests for Scullion.

 

Field- Capital freshman Blair Bowman (New Richmond) set a new school record in the shot put with a throw of 40’ 4” and finished in second place at the Lynchburg (Va.) Invitational last week.

 

April 2

Mount Union junior Amanda Kolanz (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) placed first in both the high jump (1.62), and long jump (5.17) and placed second of the triple jump (10.36) at the OAC Gold meet last weekend.  

 

Baldwin-Wallace sophomore Rebekah Paul (Gibsonburg) took home four first place honors last weekend at the OAC meet last weekend. Paul placed first in the 200-meter dash (26.51), 400-meter dash (58.73) and was a member of the winning 400-meter and 1600-meter relay teams.

April 9

Track-Baldwin-Wallace junior Kristen Paulsen (Oberlin/Firelands) placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a NCAA provisional mark of 14.99 meters. Paulsen also finished first in the long jump (15’7”) and second as a member of the 400-meter relay (51.58) at the Ohio Wesleyan Marv Frye Invitational last weekend.

 

Field-Otterbein sophomore Ally Tobin (Fisher Catholic) took home a first place finish in the shot put with an NCAA provisional mark of 13.01 meters at the Ohio Wesleyan Marv Frye Invitational last week.

 

 

April 16

Track-Ohio Northern sophomore Joy Kessler (Republic/Attica Seneca East) placed first in the 200-meter dash (26.67), the 4x100-meter relay (52.09) and the 4x400-meter relay (4:16.99) at the Northern Duals last week.

Field-Ohio Northern freshman Karen Thatcher (Jefferson Hills/Thomas Jefferson) took home a first place finish in the long jump (4.77m) and in the triple jump (9.82m) at the Northern Duals last week.

April 23

Track-Wilmington senior Ashley Johnson (Wilmington) broke the All-Ohio meet record in the pole vault (12-1.5) and broke her own record at the Wilmington Invitational in the pole vault with an NCAA qualifying mark of 12-10.25).

 

Field-Otterbein senior Melinda Keesee (Dublin/Scioto) took home two first place finishes with NCAA provisional marks in the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:03.14) and the 5000-meter run (17:38.22) at the All-Ohio meet last weekend.

Wilmington freshman Callen Martin (Cincinnati/Finneytown) took home first in the 100-meter dash (12.10) and in the 200-meter dash (25.05) at the All-Ohio meet last weekend. Both times broke the school and meet record. Martin also went undefeated at the Wilmington Invitational in the 100-meter (12.16), the 200-meter dash (25.53) and the 4x100-meter relay (50.85)

April 30

Track-Capital freshman Jessica Starks (Akron/Akron East) broke her own record and provisionally qualified with a time 12.17 in the 100-meter dash at the Stan Lyons Invite last weekend. Starks was a member of the 4x100 relay team that placed first (48.32) and posted a school record. She also placed seventh in the 200-meter dash.

Field-Mount Union junior Amanda Kolanz (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) placed second in the long jump (5.49m) and third in the triple jump (10.84m) at the “Sparky” Adams Invitational last week.

May 7

Track-Otterbein sophomore Lauren Rausch (Edison/Mt. Gilead) placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 14.98 at the Jesse Owens Classic last weekend.

Field-Otterbein sophomore Ally Tobin (Lancaster/Fisher Catholic) placed second in the shot put with an NCAA qualifying mark of 44-05.25 at the Jesse Owen Classic last weekend.
