January 14

Beebe Earns OAC Weekly Honor

Track-Heidelberg junior Cory Beebe (Medina, Ohio / Cloverleaf) helped guide the Berg to the team championship at the Capital Purple and White Invitational by claiming three of seven championships last weekend. He started out with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash (51:48) and followed that up with a victory in the 55-meter hurdles (7.86). Beebe closed the invitational running a leg of the championship 4x400-meter relay team.

 

Other Nominees: Jimmy O’Brien (ONU)…Jared French (OTT)

Field (men)- Mount Union senior Dan Gund (Madison) threw the shot put 55’5” to place third at the Kent State Open back on December 7-8. That throw led the nation in Division III in December.

January 21

Track -Ohio Northern junior Jimmy O’Brien (Pemberville/Eastwood) set a school record in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:05.68 at the ONU Friday Night Meet last week. This is the second straight week he has set a school record. O’Brien also placed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:30.34).

Field (men)- Capital junior Doug Gibbons (Troy) match his school record in the pole vault and placed first with a mark of 15-0 at the Kenyon Invitational last week.

 

Other Nominees: Seth Beckner (MAR)…Jacob Fox (ONU).

January 28

Track -Capital sophomore Jessie Ramirez (Howard/East Knox) helped  lead the Crusaders’ to a third place finish at the Rev. Mike Hout Invitational last week by placing first in the 300 meter run (37.33), second in the 4x200 relay (1:35.00) and third in the 55 meter dash (6.60).

Field- Capital freshman Cory Trump (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) placed first in the high jump (6-6), just one inch short of the school record at the Rev. Mike Hout Invitational last week.

February 2

Beebe Earns OAC Weekly Honor

Track)-Heidelberg junior Cory Beebe (Medina/Cloverleaf) paced the Student Princes to a second place finish at the OAC Relays last week, with a first place finish in the 1600-Sprint Medley (3:37.90), the 4x400-meter relay (3:23.62) and the 4x200-meter relay (1:31.72). Beebe also placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.21)

Brian Pallini

Field- Marietta sophomore Brian Pallini (Belpre) won an individual title in the weight throw at 14.17m and second in shot put at 14.08 m at the OAC Relays last week.

February 11

Track-Heidelberg sophomore Mark Childs (New Albany) won the 300-meter dash (36.18) and was a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay team (3:30.29) at the Mount Union Invite. Childs also placed second in the 400-meter dash (50.70). The team placed third of nine teams.

Field -Capital junior Doug Gibbons (Troy) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship with a school record and winning mark of 15-5 in the pole vault at the Greater Columbus Championship last week.

February 18

Track (men)-Ohio Northernjunior Jimmy O’Brien (Pemberville/Eastwood) took first in the 800-meter run in an NCAA provisional time of 1:54.20, and than ran the anchor leg in both the winning 4x400 and distance medley relay teams at the All-Ohio Meet last week. The 4x400 meter relay team set a new ONU record as well as a new meet record with a time of 3:22.55.

Field (men)-Heidelberg sophomore Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria) Provisionally-qualified for the NCAA Championships and placed first in the long jump (23’0.75”) at the All-Ohio Meet last week. He also placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 43’9.25”.

February 25

Track (men)- Heidelberg sophomore Mark Childs (New Albany) took home two top-10 finishes at the Kent State Tune-up, the first being a sixth place finish in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:54.43. Childs was also a member of the third place 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:18.64. The time currently stands at second in the nation, leads the OAC, set a new school record, and provisionally qualified him for nationals.

Field (men)- Marietta junior Brian Pallini (Medina) won the weight throw at the  Marietta Open with a school record throw of 15.43m. He also took second in the shot put with a mark of 14.09m.

March 1

Track - Muskingum senior JD Walters (Pickerington/Central) ran a blazing 8:46.40 to win the 3,000-meter run at the Marietta Open last week.

 Other Nominees: Justin Linzy (ONU)…Cory Beebe (HEID)…Jared French (OTT)

Field (men)- Marietta junior Brian Pallini (Medina) won the weight throw at the  Marietta Open with a school record throw of 15.49m. He also took second in the shot put with a mark of 13:85m.
