Women's Tennis: Players-of-the-Week

2010

March 9

Heidelberg junior Emily Naugle (Shelby) helped to lead the Berg to a 5-4 win over Emory & Henry with a 6-0, 6-1 solo victories and a 8-2 doubles win.

 

 

2009

April 27

Otterbein junior Brittany Rings (Pickerington/Central) went 4-0 at #1 singles and #1 doubles with wins over Muskingum, Heidelberg, John Carroll and Capital to lead the Cardinals to a 4-0 record last week and a OAC Tournament appearance.

April 20

Baldwin-Wallace sophomore Caitlin Pecinovsky (Whitehall/Columbus Bishop Hartley) post a 2-0 mark at both #1 singles and #1 doubles to lead the team to a 2-0 record last week. Pecinovsky handed Marietta's Carraher her first lost of the season.

Ohio Northern senior Bridget Larson (Hudson) went 2-0 at #2 singles and #2 doubles with wins over Heidelberg and Otterbein to lead the Polar Bears to a 2-0 record last week.

April 13

Women: Mount Union sophomore Mary-Catherine Beck (Alliance/St. Thomas Aquinas) went 2-0 at #3 singles and #2 doubles with wins over Wilmington and Otterbein last week.

April 6

Otterbein junior Cheryl Thinnes (Loveland/Cincinnati Hills Christian) went 3-0 at #2 singles and #1 doubles with wins over Wilmington, Marietta and Baldwin-Wallace last week.

March 30

Ohio Northern senior #1 singles/#2 doubles player Kaitlyn Macdonald (Warsaw, Ind.) went 2-0  last week with wins over John Carroll and Muskingum. The Polar Bears finished the week at 2-0.

March 23

Baldwin-Wallace freshman number two singles/doubles player Jenny Greene (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) topped Muskingum (9-0) Walsh (7-2) and Malone (9-0) to compiled a 3-0 singles mark and a 3-0 doubles record last week. The team finished the week with a perfect 3-0 record.

March 16

 

Mount Union senior number two singles/doubles player Leslie Douglass (Geneva) went 4-0 at both singles and doubles during the Purple Raiders Spring Trip (SC). Douglass defeated Trine (6-0/ 6-0 4/S), S. Virginia (6-0/6-0 4/S), Lynchburg (8-2 3/S) and Wooster (6-2/ 6-0 4/S).

March 17

Capital senior number one singles players Kathryn Whaling (Richmond, VA/Worthington, OH) went 2-0 for the Crusaders in their a 5-4 loss against Shawnee State and a 7-2 win over the University of Northwestern Ohio last week.  She also was part of the number one doubles team that split its two matches last week.

March 24

Otterbein sophomore number one singles player Brittany Rings (Pickerington/Central) went 1-1 for the Cardinals as they took on Hillsborough (FL) and Luther (IA). She also was part of the number one doubles team that split its two matches last week.

March 31

Ohio Northern  sophomore number four singles /number three doubles player Katie Gibbs (North Canton/Hoover) went 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles for a perfect 5-0 record as the Polar Bears defeated Capital, Marietta and John Carroll. This season, Gibbs is 10-5 in singles, is 9-8 in doubles and is 19-13 overall.

April 7

Baldwin-Wallace senior number one singles /number one doubles player Tiffany Allison (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) compiling a 4-1 singles and 5-0 doubles mark. Allison led the Yellow Jackets to a 5-0 record with wins against Case Western Reserve University, John Carroll, Otterbein, Mount Union and Tiffin.

April 14

Baldwin-Wallace senior number two singles / one doubles player Meggie Glassburn (Canton) compiled a 4-0 singles record and a 4-0 doubles mark last week. Glassburn led the Yellow Jackets with wins against Muskingum, Capital, Heidelberg and Marietta. She outscored her four opponents, 45-9.

April 21

Otterbein sophomore number two singles / one doubles player Cheryl Thinnes (Loveland/Cincinnati Hills Christian) compiled a 3-0 singles record and a 3-0 doubles mark last week. Thinnes led the Cardinal with wins against John Carroll, Muskingum and Heidelberg.

2007

March 12

Baldwin-Wallace junior #4 singles player Meggie Glassburn (Canton/Jackson) who went 7-0 in both singles and doubles play as the Yellow Jackets ended their spring trip in Hilton Head, South Carolina at 7-0 and improved to 8-0 on the season. Glassburn is now 10-2 in singles play, including 7-0 in dual matches this season.

March 19

Baldwin-Wallace junior Meggie Glassburn (Canton/Jackson) was 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles as B-W beat Malone College (9-0) but lost to Walsh (5-4). Glassburn is 12-2 in singles this season with nine straight wins and now has 47 career singles wins. Glassburn and Isaac has been a doubles tandem the past three years and have combined to win 71 matches.

March 26

Baldwin-Wallace senior Andrea Isaac (New Philadelphia) the number one singles and a part of the No.2 doubles tandem, was 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles last week as B-W beat both Tiffin University (7-2) and Muskingum College (9-0) last Saturday. The two singles wins ran her mark to 13-5 this season. In doubles, Isaac and partner, junior Meggie Glassburn (Canton/ Perry) combined for two wins and ran their win streak to 12 straight this season with a 15-3 overall record.

April 2

Ohio Northern junior Courtney Anderson was 4-0 in singles and in doubles. In her four singles wins, she lost only nine games and outscored her opponents 44-9. Her doubles teams outscored its opponents 32-5 last week.  

April 9

Baldwin-Wallace freshman Britney Shy (Euclid) was 3-0 in singles and in doubles for the week. Shy has won 17 straight matches and is 19-2 in singles, 16-4 in doubles and remains unbeaten in the OAC with a 5-0 record.

April 16

Amanda Carraher

Marietta sophomore Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) was 2-0 in singles and in doubles for the week. In first singles, Carraher defeated Baldwin-Wallace’s two-time OAC Player-of-the-Year Andrea Isaac, who was previously undefeated in OAC action.
April 23

Otterbein freshman Brittany Rings (Pickerington/Central) was 3-0 in #1 singles and in #1 doubles for the week.
