Otterbein Wins 2008 OAC Women’s Golf Championship
Hosted by Ohio Northern, April 26-27
Austintown, OH—Otterbein finished first overall out of nine teams competing at the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Women's Golf Championships hosted by Ohio Northern at the Colonial Golfers Club in Harrod, April 26-27. Otterbein won the title for the fifth time in the past six years with a 36-hole total of 689. Otterbein defeated runner-up Ohio Northern by 18 strokes (689-707).
As OAC Champions, the Cardinals have automatically qualified for the NCAA Divison III Women’s Golf Championships hosted by Wartburg College, at the Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa, on May 13-16.
John Carroll senior Amanda Shannon (Oak Brook, IL/Hinsdale Central) made history by becoming the first Blue Steak golfer to win medalist honors at the OAC Championships by firing a two-day total of 161 to win the title by two strokes.
All five Otterbein golfers placed in the top-10.

2008 OAC Coach-of-the-Year
Otterbein Head Coach Nathanael Petry was named Coach-of-the-Year. Petry led the Cardinals to an OAC Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship this season. The Otterbein women’s golf team will be making its first-ever appearance in the national tournament.
