     Austintown, Ohio- The 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Women’s Soccer Tournament will feature the top six teams in the Conference with the quarterfinals beginning on Monday, November 2 and running through Saturday, November 7.

    Otterbein finished the regular season at 8-0-1(16-1-1) to claim the regular-season title for the fifth time and the #1 seed. As the #1 seed, the Cardinals earn a bye in the quarterfinals and will take on the winner of #5 Capital at #4 Wilmington on Wednesday, November 4. The Cardinals are making their ninth appearance in the tournament.

   Ohio Northern has earned the #2 seed with a 8-1-0 (14-3-2) record. The Polar Bears will be making their 13th stop in the tournament. ONU has also earned a bye in the quarterfinals and will take on the winner of #6 Heidelberg at #3 John Carroll on Wednesday.

John Carroll finished the regular-season with a 6-2-1 (8-9-2) record to enter this year’s tournament at the #3 seed. The Blue Streaks are making their tenth tournament appearance. JCU will host #6 Heidelberg on Monday at 2p.m. The Berg finished the season with a 4-5 (7-11-1) record and is make its ninth tournament visit. During the regular-season John Carroll topped Heidelberg 2-0.

Wilmington finished the regular-season with a 6-3-0 (11-5-2) record to enter this year’s tournament at the #4 seed. The Quakers are making their ninth tournament stop. Wilmington will host #5 Capital on Monday at 7p.m. The Crusaders are making their 13th tournament showing and finished the season with a 6-3 (12-6-2) record. Wilmington defeated Capital, 2-1, earlier this season.

    ADMISSION

    Admission for all OAC Soccer Tournament matches shall be $5 for adults and $2 for non-OAC students.  OAC students shall be admitted free of charge with valid school identification.  OAC blue passes are not valid for the tournament.  The host school is responsible for submitting admission fees to the OAC office after subtracting officials’ fees.

    FINANCIAL REPORT

    The host school is responsible for paying game officials, clock/scoreboard operator, announcer and one ticket seller.  Please see the Soccer Tournament Financial Report for allowable expenditures.  You may take any or all of these expenses from gate receipts.  Please complete the form after your home game and return with a check (if income exceeds expenses).

    HOST SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITIES

                1.  Producing a four-page program (8 ½ x 11 quality stock) which includes

                     team rosters, brief season review, tournament bracket, etc.

                2.  Statistics of the match.

                3.  Providing three high-quality soccer balls comparable to NCAA balls.

                4.  Organizing a Games Committee to oversee the event. The committee should

                     consist of a representative from each school plus one official.

    The host school is responsible for paying the above fees (you may use admission income).  If you cannot have checks ready by game-time, you may wish to ask the officials to leave their addresses so you can mail them.

    PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

    Regarding yellow cards, any student-athlete picking up a fifth card in your last regular-season match must sit out this upcoming match.  If a fifth yellow card is accumulated during the OAC tournament, suspension occurs after the eighth violation.  Any player who was ejected in the last regular-season game must sit out at least one playoff match (two if ejected for fighting).

    OVERTIME

    Please note that in the event of a tie at the end of regulation, there shall be (up to) two 10-minute sudden-victory overtime periods.  If there is still a tie at the end of the overtimes, the score will be officially recorded as such, and we shall then employ the penalty kick tiebreaker outlined in the NCAA rules in order to determine a winner.

    WEATHER/DAYLIGHT OR UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES

    Regarding weather or daylight, once the match has started, there will be a declared winner.  If the match is cancelled before the 70th minute, the higher seed automatically wins/advances.  If the match goes beyond the 70th minute, whoever is ahead will win/advance (or the higher seed if it is tied).  If the game cannot be started within 24 hours, for any reason, the higher seed shall be declared the winner and shall advance.

    COACHES MEETING

    The men’s and women’s soccer coaches will meet at Capital University on the Monday following the OAC Tournament to determine All-Conference, Player-of-the-Year and Coach-of-the-Year Awards.  The men’s coaches will meet at 9:00 a.m. and the women’s coaches will meet at 11:00 a.m. in the even-numbered years, vice versa in odd-numbered years.  The SID of Capital will be invited to conduct the voting process.  In the absence of the SID, the committee chair will run the meeting.
