2008 OAC Men’s Soccer Tournament

-November 3-November 8, 2008-

     Austintown, Ohio- The 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men’s Soccer Tournament will feature the top six teams in the Conference with the quarterfinals beginning on Monday, November 3 and running through Saturday, November 8.

Capital finished the regular season at 7-1-1(13-4-1) to claim the regular-season title for the fourth time and the #1 seed. As the #1 seed, the Crusaders earn a bye in the quarterfinals and will take on the winner of #5 Heidelberg at #4 Marietta on Wednesday, November 5.The Crusaders are making their fifth appearances in the tournament and carry a 1-3-0 tournament record.

John Carroll, the 2007 OAC Tournament Champions, have earned the #2 seed with a 5-2-2 (9-5-3) record. The Blue Streaks will make their 16th stop in the tournament with a 16-10-1 tournament record. JCU has also earned a bye in the quarterfinals and will take on the winner of #6 Muskingum at #3 Ohio Northern at 2p.m. on Wednesday, November 5.

Ohio Northern finished the season with a 5-3-1 (14-5-1) record to enter this year’s tournament at the #3 seed. ONU is making its ninth tournament stop with a 4-7-0 tournament record. ONU will host #6 Muskingum on Monday, November 3 at 2p.m. Muskingum is make its first tournament appearance.

Marietta earned the #4 seed with a 4-4-1 (9-6-3) record to make its third overall stop in the tournament with a 0-2 tournament record. Marietta will host Heidelberg, who claimed the sixth and final seed in the tournament with a 4-4-1 (7-10-2) record at 2p.m. on Wednesday. The Berg is making its 11th appearance in the tournament with a 2-9-1 tournament record.

ADMISSION

Admission for all OAC Soccer Tournament matches shall be $5 for adults and $2 for non-OAC students. OAC students shall be admitted free of charge with valid school identification. OAC brown passes are not valid for the tournament.

OVERTIME

Please note that in the event of a tie at the end of regulation, there shall be (up to) two 10-minute sudden-victory overtime periods. If there is still a tie at the end of the overtimes, the score will be officially recorded as such, and we shall then employ the penalty kick tiebreaker outlined in the NCAA rules in order to determine a winner.

WEATHER/DAYLIGHT OR UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES

Regarding weather or daylight, once the match has started, there will be a declared winner. If the match is cancelled before the 70th minute, the higher seed automatically wins/advances. If the match goes beyond the 70th minute, whoever is ahead will win/advance (or the higher seed if it is tied). If the game cannot be started within 24 hours, for any reason, the higher seed shall be declared the winner and shall advance.
