Men's Soccer:  Players-of-the-Week

October 31

Huelsman09

Ohio Northern sophomore forward Christian Huelsman (Wellington) scored the game tying goal in the Polar Bear’s 2-1 victory over Wilmington. Huelsman also scored ONU’s first goal against Marietta and then dished out an assist on their second goal, as they topped the Pioneers 2-1.

October 27

Baldwin-Wallace freshman midfielder Pat Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) totaled three points in two games last week. Against Capital, Brennan scored the Yellow Jackets second goal as they rallied from behind to tie the Crusaders, 3-3. Brennan also assisted the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Marietta College.

October 19

Capital senior forward Steven McCarthy (Centerville/Archbishop Alter) became the OAC all-time leader in career goals scored (64) and points scored (145) with a goal and an assists in the Crusader’s 3-0 win over Marietta last week.

Baldwin-Wallace junior forward Tyler Leister (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) recorded his first career hat trick in a 4-0 win over Muskingum last week.

October 12

Baldwin-Wallace senior goalkeeper Russ Mika (Wellington) and Marietta sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Shannon (Cincinnati/Mariemont) posted two shutouts to help lead their teams 2-0 records on the week. In 180 minutes, Mika recorded nine saves and Shannon tallied seven saves in 181 minutes.

Ohio Northern sophomore forward Christian Huelsman (Wellington) led the Polar Bears to a 2-0 record last week with four goals and one assist. Huelsman recorded his second career hat trick in a 7-0 win over Defiance. He also contributed one goal and one assists in a 2-1 win over Muskingum.

September 28

 

Otterbein senior forward Matt Beckett (Sunbury/Big Walnut) scored an impressive four goals in a 6-2 win over Urbana to lead the Cardinals to a 1-0 record on the week.

September 21

Baldwin-Wallace sophomore  forward Carlin Vandendriessche (Medina) scored four goals on nine shots to lead the Yellow Jackets past Oberlin College, 3-0 and Grove City College, 4-1 last week. In each game Vandendriessche scored the game-winning goal.

September 14

Capital senior forward Steven McCarthy (Centerville/Archbishop Alter) scored seven goals to go along with two assists for 16 points to lead the Crusaders to a 2-1-0 record on the week. McCarthy recorded a hat trick and one assist in a 4-2 victory over #16 Whitworth. McCarthy also added two goals and one assist in a 5-0 win over Anderson and scored two goals against Pacific Lutheran (Wa.).

September 8

Otanicar09

Ohio Northern junior forward Dan Otanicar (Wadsworth) recorded his first career hat trick in a 7-0 victory over Bridgewater (Va.). He also scored the game-tying goal with 16 seconds left in regulation in a 1-1 double-overtime tie against Roanoke (Va.). Ontanicar also added a goal in a 2-0 win over Manchester (Ind.).  For his efforts he was named to the Roanoke Invitational All-Tournament Team.
