ONU Men and B-W Women Win 2007 OAC Cross Country Championships

Austintown, OH -- The Ohio Northern men and the Baldwin-Wallace women took the team titles at last weekend's 2007 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships hosted by John Carroll at Highland Golf Course in Cleveland.

Ohio Northern won its first team title in school history. The Polar Bears tallied 38 points to edge Heidelberg (48) and two-time defending champion Mount Union (50). Otterbein (119) and Baldwin-Wallace (140) rounded out the top five.

The Polar Bears had five runners finish in the top-18 and earned All-OAC honors. Juniors Jimmy O’Brien (25:53.29) finished first to claim individual title, Eric Porter (26:20.71) was sixth, Paul Lewis (26:30.87) was eighth, Adam Thomas (26:37.77) was 11th and sophomore Alan Bowsher (26:39.30) was 12th. O'Brien became ONU’s first medalist since 1978.

The Baldwin-Wallace women won their 15th overall title, and first since 2002. By scoring 27 points, the Yellow Jackets established the largest margin of victory (58) points in an OAC women's championship meet. Otterbein (85), Mount Union (95), Ohio Northern (101) and John Carroll (107) rounded out the top five.

The Yellow Jackets placed five in the top-18 and earned All-OAC honors. Senior Lindsay Brickner (23:19.03) finished first to claim the individual title, junior Ashley Scullion (23:38.62) placed fourth, sophomore D’Arcy Hlavin (24:01.91) finished fifth, freshman Karen Coyne (24:08.17) placed seventh and senior Kristen Balogh (24:19.94) finished tenth.

The following lists both the men's and women's team scores from the 2007 OAC Cross Country Championships and the top-18 individual runners for both the men's and women's races. The top-18 runners are honored with All-OAC accolades.

Hanover will host the Great Lakes Regional Championship Saturday, November 11 at 11:00a.m
