Commissioner

In 1991, Tim Gleason was hired as the first-ever full-time commissioner of the Ohio Athletic Conference. He oversees the conference operations of officials, scheduling, rules and regulations, championships, awards and publicity.

Gleason is currently a member of the NCAA Division III Management Council and chairs the NCAA Honors Committee.  He is the immediate past president of the Division III Commissioners Association and also the president and founder of the Northeastern Ohio Chapter of the National Football Foundation.

Prior to his OAC appointment, Gleason was the assistant executive director of NACDA (1983-1991).  He was in charge of the NACDA Foundation, which provides clinics and seminars for the nation's colleges and universities.  Gleason was also managing editor of Athletics Administration, NACDA's bimonthly publication.

Gleason came to NACDA from the NCAA, where he served as promotion and licensing coordinator for three years.

Gleason, from Youngstown, Ohio, graduated from Chaney High School in 1973.  He was a member of the track team at Chaney and was also senior class vice president.

Working full-time upon graduation from high school, Gleason enrolled in Youngstown State University in 1975 and spent three years attending YSU on a part-time basis.  From there he transferred to Biscayne College (now St. Thomas University) in Miami, Florida, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in sports administration in 1979.

In the fall of 1979 Gleason received a graduate assistantship at Nicholls State University (Louisana) and stayed there for a year pursuing a master's degree and working in the business office of the athletics department.  In June, 1980 he was hired by the NCAA.  While working at NACDA, Gleason completed his Master of Education Degree at Cleveland State University.

Gleason and his wife, Sherry, have three children Shannon, Bethany and Mary Rose and reside in Mineral Ridge, Ohio.

Rickel earned her bachelor’s degree in sport management from Bowling Green in 2003.  While at Bowling Green Rickel played three years on the Women’s Club Hockey team and served as club president and team captain. Rickel also interned with the Wood County Special Olympics and the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League while at BGSU.

Prior to joining the OAC, Rickel was the Sports Information/Event Coordinator at Lakeland Community College.  Rickel, a Mentor native, graduated from Mentor High School in 1998.
