________________________________________________________________________________________________ Austintown, Ohio- The 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Volleyball Tournament will feature the top eight teams in the Conference with the quarterfinals beginning on Tuesday, November 3 and running through Saturday, November 7. All quarterfinal games will begin at 7:00 p.m. Web streaming of the semifinals and finals will be available. Heidelberg completed the regular-season with an impressive 8-1 (25-6) record to claim its second Conference title and earn the top seed in the tournament. The Berg will be making its 18th tournament appearance, when they host #8 Muskingum on Tuesday. With a win in the quarterfinals, Heidelberg will host the OAC Tournament semifinals and the finals. Muskingum finished the regular-season with a 3-6 (11-14) record and will be making its 24th tournament stop. During the regular-season, Heidelberg topped the Muskies 3-0. Mount Union earned the #2 seed with a 7-2 (21-5) record and will make its 20th tournament showing. The Purple Raiders will host #7 Marietta on Tuesday. Marietta (4-5/18-11) will be making its 14th tournament stop. Earlier this season, Mount Union defeated the Pioneers, 3-0. Ohio Northern will enter the tournament at the #3 seed with a 7-2 (25-3) record. The Polar Bears have appeared in every tournament since its inception in 1984. ONU will host #6 John Carroll (4-5/12-16) in the quarterfinals. The Blue Streaks will be making their 14th tournament appearance. JCU fell to ONU, 3-0, earlier in the season. Otterbein (5-4/23-8), as the #4 seed will host #5 Capital (5-4/16-14) in quarterfinal play. The Cardinals will be making their 13th tournament showing, while Capital is making its 19th. During the regular-season, the Cardinals defeated the Crusaders 3-2. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ADMISSION For quarterfinals, admission shall be $5 for adults and $2.00 for non-OAC students. For the semifinals on Friday, admission shall be $8.00 for adults and $2.00 for non-OAC students. On Saturday the admission is $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for non-OAC students. OAC students are admitted free of charge with valid ID. OAC blue passes are not valid for the tournament. HOST RESPONSIBILITIES: Each host for the tournament is responsible for the preparation and cost of a program. The host school is also responsible for statistics of all games at it’s site. In addition, the host shall directly pay from gate receipts the clock/scoreboard operator, ticket seller, scorekeeper, and announcer. Please see OAC Financial Report Form for guidelines. TOURNAMENT RECEIPTS: After the hosts collect gate receipts and pay allowable expenses, they should forward any remaining funds along with the financial report as soon as possible to the OAC office. RADIO RIGHTS: If anyone contacts you (as a host institution) regarding radio rights, please note that commercial stations are charged $50 per match while student stations are free of charge.
